Singapura Cat

With big, striking eyes and an adoring and warm disposition, the Singapura cat makes a wonderful feline companion.

The Singapura cat is also known as the “Singapura drain cat” as they were thought to have originated from three street cats in Singapore. They were imported to the United States in the 1970’s and were recognised as a breed by the Cat Fancier’s Association in 1988.

Ranging from 1.8 to 3.6kgs in weight, the Singapura cat is quite a small cat. They have a ticked (Agouti) coat pattern and are sepia (brown/cream) in colour. Their life expectancy is around 12 to 15 years.

Apartment Friendly

Sharp minded and agile, the Singapura has natural curiosity and joie de vivre. They’re said to seek out human company and make devoted companions. This makes them a suitable cat for families but bear in mind that they are a small cat that is unlikely to enjoy rough handling by small children. Singapura cats are highly social cats and historically get along with other household cats if introduced early. They adapt well to apartment life when they are provided with plenty of cat trees, toys, and company.

Keep your Singapura indoors or in a cat friendly enclosure to help keep them safe from roads, other cats and snakes as well as helps to keep wildlife safe from your cat.

Singapura cats have a distinctive short, silky coat that is low maintenance. A cat grooming glove can be used a couple of times a week to help remove loose hair. Make sure your Singapura is on flea control all year round and tick control if you are in a tick area.

When choosing a food for your Singapura Cat, select a premium food appropriate to your cats age and life stage. Consider a premium food that offers urinary tract protection for your cat. Ensure that you follow the recommended feeding guides on the food appropriate to your pet's size to ensure your fur baby gets appropriate nutrition. Always ensure your Singapura cat has a constant supply of fresh water available and consider providing them with a water fountain, as many cats prefer to drink moving water.
